The Baking is Easier Than the Blogging!

Here are pictures of some of the bundts I made in 2010. I am having so much fun trying different recipes and shapes of pans. I enjoy the baking but find it difficult to blog. It's one of those things I always think, "I'll do that later" and then 'later' turns into 'never'. One of my goals for 2011 is to update my blog....often.

Hershey Chocolate Bundt Cake. I made mini bundts with this recipe for Anna to take to school for her birthday.

Sailor Jerry Rum Cake for my Cousin, Suzanne's birthday. I made this cake again for Thanksgiving.

Chocolate Stadium Cake for Football Season Kick-off.

Chocolate Malted Mini Bundts The Bundt Babe, Tammy
These are just a few of the bundts we enjoyed this year. I'm looking forward to using my new mixer and the new pans (4) I received for Christmas! Thank you to everyone who has followed my blog and/or ate my cakes! Here's to 2011!

July 4th Bundts

I found a recipe for Graham Cracker Bundt Cake that I thought sounded very interesting. Instead of flour, it called for crushed graham crackers. I wondered if I could use it to make Smore Bundt Cakes.

July 4th weekend we were invited to Kaw Lake. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try out my idea....what's the most important thing when you're camping? Smores!
I used a baby bundt pan, put in a scoop of the graham cracker batter, three marshmallows, a piece of chocolate and then another scoop of batter. I pictured in my head a nice warm baby bundt that burst with chocolate and marshmallow when you bit into it....just like a smore you would make around the campfire.

No...that didn't happen. While the baby bundts were baking, the chocolate sunk to the bottom & the marshmallow floated to the top, puffed up really big & toasted brown. Not at all what I had hoped for. The ended up tasting very bland.

I plan to attempt Smores Bundts again, I will just have to rethink it a bit!

This is my friend Tammy modeling the Smores Baby Bundts. She is the official Bundt Chronicles Model.

Bundts on a Boat

While we were in Parsons for Memorial Weekend, my Brother & Sister-in-Law invited us to Big Hill Lake for the day. We were excited to spend the day with them & of course, I had to take some of the Baby Bundts with us!
Mac with a Baby Bundt...he didn't get to eat it, because it was chocolate.

Mermorial Weekend Baby Bundts

We travel to our hometown of Parsons every year for Memorial Weekend to attend Katy Days. Katy Days is a celebration of the history of the Katy Railroad. It's a lot of fun and a great chance to catch up with old friends, as everybody seems to make it back for the weekend! Since several of my faithful followers live or would be in Parsons and happen to be some of my favorite people, I decided to make baby bundts for them. I made Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip and Strawberry. My friend Connie helped me out because I was short on time, she made Tropical. I ended up with around 60 individually wrapped baby bundts. Steve and a guy I don't know holding Baby Bundts in front of an engine. Ruthie & Katie with their Baby Bundts.

I'm really bummed I didn't get a single photo of anyone at the Braman house with a bundt. :(

Balls & Bundts

There will be a "Balls & Bundts" party in the near future....

Braden's Birthday Bundt

I offered to bring a bundt cake to my cousins birthday party and since we had picked strawberries that morning, I decided to bake a Very Berry Bundt. This was a vanilla pound cake with fresh strawberries baked inside. I topped it powdered sugar and more fresh berries and served it with Cool Whip. It was the perfect spring bundt cake! It received several ratings of 4 and 5 so overall I give it a 4.5. It's a nice alternative to strawberry short cake. I will definately make this again, as I have about 10 bags of frozen strawberries!

Layne & Braden waiting on the cake!

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter cake with chocolate glaze. This cake was THICK. It wasn't real moist, just really rich and heavy. The recipe said to have a glass of milk ready and it was right. After a few bites of this cake, I was craving milk. And anyone who know me well, knows I don't ever drink milk!

This cake wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. If I'm in the mood for peanut butter and chocolate again, I think I will go back to the Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip recipe.
Overall rating: 3.5

Chocolate Cream Cheese

After the boring pistachio and the blackberry fail, I needed to make a really good cake. I was beginning to get a little down on my bundt baking skills. I figured I couldn't go wrong with chocolate and cream cheese!

The recipe said to pour the chocolate batter in the bundt pan first and then spoon the cream cheese mixture on top and it would sink to the bottom. I was able to pour the cream cheese mixture and it didn't sink. I started to worry I was going to have another failure on my hands! The cream cheese did finally sink a little while it was baking.

To my relief, this cake was yummy! I took it to work and everyone tried it (the same cannot be said for the two previous cakes). A couple of the guys (my husband included) thought it would be good with a frosting of some kind, but I don't think it needs any.

Overall, everyone seemed to really enjoy this cake. When I make this cake again I will pour the chocolate and cream cheese in layers to distribute the cream cheese throughout the cake.

Rating: 4.5 ("It would be a 5 with frosting.")

Pistachio

I would like to post at least once a week. It has been really busy around here, I've found the time to make the cakes, but I haven't had the time to update the blog. I made this cake two weeks ago. I was short on time so I needed something easy. This was made with a yellow cake mix and pistachio pudding mix...very quick and easy. I added green food coloring because I wanted it to be really green. I should of added more, it still wasn't as green enough!

This cake tasted boring. It was very moist, but I thought it lacked any flavor. Some "tasters" really liked it. It was finished off Saturday night by some friends who named it "The Drunk Bundt". Apparently, after a few drinks, this cake is amazing!

It recieved an average rating of 3.

Apple Spice

I made this cake Sunday afternoon. It has Granny Smith Apples in it and homemade caramel sauce for topping. The recipe said to bake for 75-90 minutes. I baked it for 75 and it was a little dry. If I make this one again, I won't bake it as long.

It was really good served warm with vanilla ice cream.

We decided we need a rating system for the cakes. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best, this cake received a 3.5! If you live nearby and you're interested in being on the "Bundt Panel" for the next cake, let me know!

Old Virginia Blackberry Cake

I found blackberries on sale and decided to find a recipe for them. I found two. I was missing a few ingredients for one so I tried the Old Virginia Blackberry Cake. It has cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove in it. I thought this sounded strange with blackberries, but I made it anyway. It was not good. In fact, I would say it's the worst cake I've ever had. I took it to work and everyone ate it. They all agreed it was "different", but they ate it! My Mom and Step dad liked it too. I still think it was gross. I will not be making this cake again.

I also need to work on my frosting techniques....this one is not very pretty! Overall, this cake was a fail!

Bid Day Banana Bundt Cake

I made this cake to take to work. The recipe called it "the most decadent banana bundt cake ever" and it was. It has a caramel glaze on the bottom (you poke holes in the cake and pour it on before you take it out of the pan) and the icing on top. It was really rich. I don't know how often I will make this one because it was a lot of work!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip

This. Cake. Was. Good. Seriously, this cake was one of the best cakes I've ever had & super easy to make (it's made with a mix & pudding). The recipe called for chocolate chips, but I had a bag of pb chips on hand so I used them. I think that was what made this cake so yummy! If you like chocolate & peanut butter, this is the cake for you! And if you don't like chocolate & peanut butter...I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore!

The Maiden Voyage

I made a lemon bundt cake for the Easter Eggstravaganza. It was the first cake I baked in my new pan and the first time I made a cake from scratch. It is sitting on eddible Easter grass. I thought it was beautiful & delicious! Of course, that's just my opinion! ;)

My friend, Melissa took the photo.

As soon as I figure it out, I will start linking to recipes.

The Pan!

Here is my bundt cake pan. I thought it deserved a post of it's own. It's just a pan....but I am so happy to have it. It's my signature color! Thanks, Mom!

Welcome

I am a wife & mother. I enjoy cooking, baking and trying new recipes. My Mom gave me a bundt cake pan for Easter. I decided to start a blog of bundt cakes...just for fun! I hope you enjoy my "bundt blog" as much as I enjoy baking bundt cakes.
